Winnipeg is Manitoba’s capital city and is located in Western Canada. It is under populated compared to other cities in Canada which in turn makes it a grace place to visit if are a person that does not take too well to overcrowded urban or tourist areas. Winnipeg attracts people from all over the world and promises a wide array of culture as well as historical background that gives the city personality and an undertone that can’t be described as much as it’s felt when visiting something like the red river floodway or Fort Douglas which was built in 1812 by Scottish and Irish settlers. Winnipeg houses great art galleries, restaurants, shopping, festivals, theaters, museums, concerts and fine arts. There is never a dull moment and if you visit in the fall you will get the best of all seasons with warm days and crisp evenings that will make you wish you never had to leave. Summers can be hot and humid and winters can be devastatingly cold seeing that they are so North on the map. There are old architectural buildings that are close to 200 years old that were constructed by the Grand Truck Pacific Railroad. A Planetarium, Manitoba Museum and the Assiniboine Park Zoo are also great attractions and even make good destination for children. A national park that supports the world’s longest lake and wildlife such as deer and bears, to name a few, that stretch out over long hiking paths and dense forest trails. Even the nightlife in Winnipeg is worth checking out and they will have something that will tend to any person of any race, any age, man or woman. There are ballet studios, Irish pubs and bars, and even concerts and festivals that are held annually and regularly throughout all of Winnipeg. There should not be a dull moment while you are there and you can make this city as little or as much as you want it to be. It really is one of Canada’s best kept secrets and you will know this the first five minutes you are graced by the elegance and beautiful demeanor that Winnipeg has to offer. |
